About Us
It all started from a farmhouse, a land and a dream.
It was the beginning of the twentieth century when Antonio, Emanuele's great-grandfather, bought the farm and the fields surrounding it, in Ballino, among the gentle hills of Pozzolengo. A place that has since then preserved deep roots, not only those of the vine, but also those of our family.
In the peasant silence and between the folds of history, the farmhouse has resisted two world wars.
Then, in the 1960s, grandfather Albano's dream took shape: he planted the first vines, bet on a generous land and started a small production of bulk wine. At his side, father Costantino, who with dedication carried on the tradition, always with honesty and respect for what the vineyard gives back.
Love for the Ballino lands
In 2020 our story changes skin, while remaining faithful to its roots.
Antico Gelso is born, the result of the meeting between Emanuele and Daniela: a union of intentions, dreams and love for this land. The vineyard is the same, as is the passion.
But the view becomes broader, more aware: for the first time, wine takes shape in the bottle, becoming a story, an identity, a vision. Albano's dream continues through the fourth generation with his great-granddaughter Anita, new roots, ancient dreams.
Today Antico Gelso carefully cultivates 5 hectares of vineyards, where Lugana and Merlot dominate.
Every year, about 10,000 bottles are born, and in each one lives a little story: of family, of territory, of time that passes slowly between the rows. Because here, every sip is not just wine.
It is memory that resists, passion that evolves, root that flourishes.
